Given:

The mass of urea, w = 4 gm

The mass of water, W = 36 gm

The M.wt of urea, M1 = 60 gm

To Find:

The mole fraction of urea, X.

Calculation:

- The M.wt of water, M2 = 18 gm

- The mole fraction of urea is given as:

X = (w / M1) / {(w / M1) + (W / M2)}

⇒ X = (4 / 60) / {(4 / 60) + (36 / 18)}

⇒ X = (1 / 15) / {(1 / 15) + 2}

⇒ X = (1 / 15) / {(1 + 30)/ 15}

⇒ X = 1 / 31

X = 0.0323

- So, the mole fraction of urea is 0.0323.
