Give reason for the following:

I) Answer:- Vegetables and fruits contain an enzyme polyphenol oxidase in the cells which get exposed to air when fruits and vegetables are cut and left open. On exposure to air, an oxidation reaction takes place which turns the fruits and vegetables brown.

ii) Answer:- A part of your brain called the hypothalamus controls your body temperature. In response to an infection, illness, or some other cause, the hypothalamus may reset the body to a higher temperature. So when a fever comes on, it's a sign that something is going on in your body.

Answer:

Ans.1,=When fresh fruits and vegetables are peeled or cut open, the enzyme called polyphenol oxidase (also called tyrosinase) contained in the cells is exposed to and reacts with the oxygen in the air. The reaction that occurs, which is called oxidation, is what turns the fruits and vegetables brown.

Explanation:

Ans.2,=When you have an infection, you make lots of these cells. They work faster to try and fight off the infection. The increase in these white blood cells affects your hypothalamus. This makes your body heat up, causing a fever.
