Given: 4 grey polygons join together as shown in the diagram

To find :  size of angle a  & b

Solution:

Angle of a regular polygon = 180°(n - 2)/n

Each Angle of pentagon = 180°(5 - 2)/5

= 108°

=> ∠a  = 108°

Each Angle of triangle =  180°(3 - 2)/3  = 60°

Angle at center would be 360°

=> 108° + 60° + 60° + angle of triangle formed = 360°

=> angle of triangle formed = 132°

small triangle & pentagon has one side in common

hence their sides are equal

=> sides  of triangle formed are equal

=> two angles = b

b + b + 132° = 180°

=> 2b = 48°

=> b = 24°

∠a  = 108°  & ∠b = 24°
