Answers
Explanation:
the story “The boss came to dinner” the author presents the attitudes of the two generations namely the Mother (the old generation) and Shamnaths (the young generation). The Mother (the old generation) is full of love and sacrifice. She has come from rural background and has no idea of aristocracy and sophistication. She is tolerant, sacrificing and willing to make a phulkari for Sahib in order for her son to get promoted. On the other hand Mr. Shamnath and his wife (the young generation) represent a value-system in which there is no place for love and sacrifice. They are full of self-interest and material interest. They invite the boss for dinner because Shamnth want to please the Sahib in order to get promotion. They treat the old mother as an odd thing in the house and they do not want to her to be seen by the boss. Shamnath ignores the sacrifice of her mother and want to get promoted even at the cost of his own mothers toil.
