The set consisting of all the elements which are either in A or in B or in both is called union of A and B

Given:

2 sets A and B

To Find:

The set consisting of all the elements which are either in A or in B or in both

Solution:

The set consisting of all the elements which are either in A or in B or in both is called union of A and B

Union of  A and B = A U B

An union of two sets is a set composed of all the elements of both sets

An intersection of two sets is a set consisting of elements shared by both of  the sets.

Hence Intersection of A and B , = A ∩ B  = set consisting of all the elements  in both

Complement of A = Set of elements which are not the elements of A

Complement of B = Set of elements which are not the elements of B

Hence, The set consisting of all the elements which are either in A or in B or in both is called union of A and B
