Given: A gas compressed adiabatically by doing a work of 300J.

To Find: Internal energy of the gas.

Solution:

By the first law of thermodynamics,

 \\ dU=Q-W, where \\ dU=chnage in internal energy,

\\ Q=Heat added to the system,

\\ W=Work done by the system

Here, \\ dW= 300 J,

\\ dQ=0 J(Since the system is adiabatic as given and in In thermodynamics, it is a process where no transferring of heat or mass between the thermodynamic system and its environment is done.)

So,\\ dU=dQ-dW=0-300= -300J

Hence, Change in internal energy, dU=300J.
