LET THE TWO NUMBERS BE X AND Y

X - Y = 4 (GIVEN)

X = 4 + Y ----(i)

GIVEN,

 \\  \\  \\ difference \:  \: of \:  \: the \:  \: numbers \: \\   =  {x}^{2}  -  {y}^{2}   = 80\\  \\  \\ ( {4 + y)}^{2} -  {y}^{2}   = 80 \\  \\  \\ 16 +  {y}^{2}  -  {y}^{2}  + 8y = 80 \\  \\  \\ 8y  = 80 - 16 \\  \\  \\ 8y = 64 \\  \\  \\ y = 8 \\  \\  \\ putting \:  \: y \: in \:  \: equation \:  \: (i) \\  \\  \\ x = 4 + y = 4 + 8 = 12 \:  \: (answer) \\  \\  \\  \\  \\
