Question:

If P is the midpoint of the line segment AB with A(-4,2) and B (6,2), then co-ordinates of point P are

Given:

Point A(-4,2) and Point B(6,2)

  \tt Let~x_1=-4, ~y_1=2 and~x_2=6, ~y_2=2 and~mid-point~P~be~(m, n)

Solution:

Apply mid point formula to find the coordinate of P i.e

 \tt \boxed{ \tt(m, n)=\bigg(\frac{x_1+x_2}{2}, \frac{y_1+y_2}{2} \bigg)} \\\\ \tt (m, n)= \tt \bigg(\frac{-4+6}{2}, \frac{2+2}{2}\bigg) \\\\ \tt (m, n)=\bigg(\frac{2}{2}, \frac{4}{2} \bigg) \\\\ \tt (m, n)=(1, 2)

Since, m=1 and n=2, the coordinate of point P is (1,2)

Correct option is b
