if we simply determine the magnitude of v1 it will came 5 . because by squaring 3 will become 9 and 4 will be 16 there combination will be 25 and the under root of 25 is 5 and with same pattern of V2 1 by squaring will be same 1 but the minus sign will become +ve so , 1+1 =2 so remembering that it was in √2 so the √2 =1.41 .

so at last stage as you asked v1+v2 will be what it's answer will be 5+1.41 = 6.41 But you may be know more then me .
