We know,
Kinetic energy = 1/2 x m x v^2
If v increases 3 times, v = 3v
So new kinetic energy = 1/2 x m x (3v)^2
= 9 ( 1/2 x m x v^w)
= 9 x (original kinetic energy)
So kinetic energy increases 9 times.
Hope you have understood.
