ABC is a right triangle.

So, by Pythagoras theorem

(AC)*2=(AB)*2 + (BC)*2

(AC)*2=(6cm)*2 + (8cm)*2

(AC)*2=36cm2+64cm2

(AC)*2=100cm2

AC=√100 cm

AC=10cm
