Answer:

The nutrients and oxygen passes from the mother to the foetus through a structure called as placenta.

Placenta is a temporary, disc-shaped structure which facilitates transfer of oxygen and nutrients from the maternal blood to the growing foetus and the removal of waste products of the foetus.

It is attached to the maternal uterine wall and connects the mother and the foetus intimately through the umbilical cord.

Now, if Jane eats an apple then nutrients from her blood gets transferred to the foetus across the placenta through the umbilical cord.

This way, the foetus gets all the required nutrients and oxygen from the mother.
