\textbf{ANSWER}

______________________

4_methyl hexan_2_one is a ketone as is clear from its name

"one " at the end shows that this compound is a ketone .

\textbf{NOMENCLATURE}

It is a six carbon compound so it has name "hex" .

A methyl group is attached to carbon 4 So its name is 4_methyl hexan_2_one .

A keto group is attached to carbon number 2 thats why it is called hexan_2_one (it means a keto group at carbon number 2).

\textbf{RULES }

1▪ Select longest carbon chain and take it as parent name .

2▪ If substituents are attached name the chain from the side where substituents get lowest possible number .

3▪ Functional group has priority over substituents (Thats why chain is named from the end where keto group gets lowest possible number as compared to methyl group .)
