1 - The skeletal system is your body's central framework. It consists of bones and connective tissue, including cartilage, tendons, and ligaments. It's also called the musculoskeletal system.

2 - The skeletal system works as a support structure for your body. It gives the body its shape, allows movement, makes blood cells, provides protection for organs and stores minerals.

3 - Ligaments connect bones together. Tendons. Tendons (another type of tough connective tissue) on each side of a joint attach to muscles that control movement of the joint. Tendons connect muscles to bones.

4 - The 3 Types of Joints in the Body

Immovable (Fibrous) Joints.

Slightly Movable (Cartilaginous) Joints.

Freely Movable (Synovial) Joints.

5 - The six types of freely movable joint include ball and socket, saddle, hinge, condyloid, pivot and gliding.

Answer:

  1. The Skelton system is made up of the body’s bones (the skeleton), muscles, cartilage, tendons, ligaments, joints, and other connective tissue that support and bind tissues and organs together.
  2. The major functions of the skeletal system are body support, facilitation of movement, protection of internal organs, storage of minerals and fat, and blood cell formation.
  3. Joint are the areas of skeletal structure where two or more bones meet to create mobility. while ligments are bands fibrous tissue that connect to bones for holding them together at joint.
  4. Hinge joints. Hinge joints, such as in the fingers, knees, elbows, and toes, allow only bending and straightening movements.

Pivot joints. Pivot joints, such as the neck joints, allow limited rotating movements.

Ellipsoidal joints. Ellipsoidal joints, such as the wrist joint, allow all types of movement except pivotal movements.

5 The six types of freely movable joint include ball and socket, saddle, hinge, condyloid, pivot and gliding. Common causes of joint pain include inflammation (pain and swelling), infection and injury.
