Maize acts as the primary producer since it is involved in the production of food by using sunlight. Grasshopers feed on maize and are thereby the primary consumers. Lizards feed on grasshopers and are the secondary consumers (feeding on the primary consumer), and snakes are the tertiary consumers in the given food chain since they feed on the secondary consumers i.e the lizards.
