Answer:

0, -5 ...

D (-6, 1); E (-4, -4); F (2, -3) ... In which quadrant or on which axis do each of the points (-2, 4), (3, -1),(-1, 0), (1, 2) and (-3, -5) lie

Given:

Few points in the coordinate plane: A(5,0); B(3,2); C(0,5); D(-6,1); E(-4-4); F(2,-3).

To Find:

The quadrant to which each point belongs.

Solution:

The given problem can be solved by using the concepts of 2D coordinate geometry.

1. Consider a point (a,b) in the 2D coordinate system. There are 4 planes in the 2D system which are I, II, III, and IV.

  •  For a point to lie in the first quadrant the value of a and b will be: a>o, and b>0,
  • For a point to lie in the second quadrant the value of a and b will be: a<o, and b>0,
  • For a point to lie in the third quadrant the value of a and b will be: a<o, and b<0,
  • For a point to lie in the fourth quadrant the value of a and b will be: a>o, and b<0,

2. Using the above concept we can find the quadrant in which each point belongs to,

= > A(5,0) lies in the first quadrant.

= > B(3,2) lies in the first quadrant,

= > C(0,5) lies in the first quadrant,

= > D(-6,1) lies in the second quadrant,

= > E(-4,4) lies in the second quadrant,

= > F(2,-3) lies in the fourth quadrant.
