Given:

Pramod bought a mobile phone for 7890. His friend, Sonu, bought a mobile phone which cost him 8500 more.

To find:

The amount Sonu paid for buying the mobile phone.

Solution:

The cost of a mobile phone bought by Pramod = Rs. 7890

Let "x" be the cost of the mobile phone bought by Sonu.

Sonu bought a mobile phone which cost him 8500 more. So, the equation will be,

[Cost of Sonu's phone] = [Cost of Pramod's phone] + 8500

⇒ x = Rs. 7890 + Rs. 8500

x = Rs. 16390

Thus, the amount Sonu had paid for buying the mobile phone is →

Rs. 16390.
