4. Read the following paragraph and answer the questions asked?

If some forces on an object work in the same direction in a straight line then we take the resulting force as the sum of those forces. When two forces act in opposite directions in a straight line on an object. The resulting force on the object is equal to the difference between the two forces. The object then moves in the direction of the resulting force.

8. What is the value of the resulting force if 100 and 150 waters are working in the same direction on an object?
A:-

9. If the forces of 200 and 25N are acting in opposite directions on an object then what is the resulting strength value?

Answer:

250  N

172 N

F - F₁

Explanation:     for F₁ > F₂

Result = F₁ + F₂    (Same direction)

Result = F₁ - F₂      (opposite direction)

8.    100 and 150 N forces are applied in same direction

        Resulting force = 100 + 150 N

                                  = 250 N

9.   200 and 25 N forces are applied in opposite direction

[As 200 > 25,  body would experience force in the direction of 200 N]

   Resulting force = 200 - 25 N

                             = 175 N

10.   F and F₁ are in opposite direction    and F > F₁ so body choose to go in the direction of the greater one i.e. F

    Hence,  resulting force = F - F₁
