Solution:

Let say a circle with radius 4 cm and center O

tangent at A and B are parallel tangents

Draw a line MN  parallel to tangent passing through O

OA = OB = 4 cm

now  angle formed ∠AOM  =  ∠BOM = 90°    as  line is parallel to tangent line

=> ∠AOM  +  ∠BOM = 180°

=> AOB is a straight line

=> AB = AO + OB

AO = OB = Radius = 4 cm

=> AB = 4 + 4

=> AB = 8 cm
