Developments that took place in the deccan under the Marathas were -

1. Shivaji took the support of kunbis who were peasants pastoralists, in order to meet the challenges of the Mughals.

2. The Maratha army were very well-organized and they raided cities and positioned the army at strategic areas, where they felt that the supplies could easily be disrupted.

3. Under the Marathas, trade was encouraged and many industries like brass work industry in Kalyan, the perfume industry in Pune etc. flourished.
