1. oxidised, loss of electrons
2. reduced, gain of electrons
1. ferrous valency is +2 and ferric's is +3 so that means one more electron has been removed, thuss loss
2. chlorine has 7 electrons in outermost shell so it takes one electron from sodium which has only one so it readily gives its electron so chlorine takes it, thus gain of electrons so its reduction
