4. Study the diagram given below and answer the
questions that follow :

(a) Name the process being studied in the above
experiment.
(b) Explain the process mentioned in (a) above.

(d) What do we observe with regard to the level of water

(2) humid conditions (3) windy day?

d} 1.the transpiration rate increases, hence water level decreases.

2.  The water level doesnt decrease much because transpiration rate under humid conditions is low.

3.The water level is less as on windy days wind velocity is more hence more transpiration takes place.

e}  they are:

1.the rootlets or root hair increase surface area for absorption of water.

2.The cell sap of root hair is at a higher concentration than surrounding soil water.

3.the root hair have thin walls, they have freely permeable cell wall and semi-permeable cell membrane.
