Answer: For substracting any fraction number we first find the lcm of the denominator

a) .5/8 from -9/20= LCM of 8 and 20 = 40

Now we should find the equivalent frction of 5/8 and -9/20 to 40

1) 5/8= _/40= 8 x 5 =  40 so we should multiply the numerator also by 5 because 8 x 5 gives 40 so the ans will be 25/40

2) 9/20= 20 x 2= 40 so we should multiply the numerator also by 2 because 20x 2 gives 40= 9 x 2 = 18 so we got as 18/40

Now it is easy to substract 25/40 - 18/40= 7/40

b) Do the same method to b also

b.-2/3 from 5/9= 6/9 - 5/9= 1/9

c. 3/4 from 7/8= 6/8 - 7/8= 1/8
