Savita= 8 yrs

Manish= 31 yrs

Answer:

Here's ur answer

Let the present ages of Manish and Savita be x years and y years respectively.

According to the first condition,

x + y = 31 …(i)

3 years ago,

Manish’s age = (x – 3) years

Savita’s age = (y – 3) years

According to the second condition,

(x – 3) = 4 (y – 3)

∴ x – 3 = 4y – 12

∴ x – 4y = -12 + 3

∴ x – 4y = -9 …(ii)

Subtracting equation (ii) from (i), we get

5y = 40

y= 8

Savita= 8 yr

∴ x = 31 – 8

∴ x = 23

Manish= 31 yr

Manish's Age = 23 Years

Savita's Age = 5 Years

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

  • Sum of present ages of Manish and Savita is 31.
  • 3 years ago Manish's age was 4 times the age of Savita.

To Find:

  • Present ages of both ?

Solution: Let the present age of Manish & Savita be x and y years respectively. Therefore,

➟ Manish's + Savita's age = 31

➟ 31 = x + y

➟ 31 – y = xㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ(i)

[ Three years ago their ages were ]

  • Manish's age = (x – 3) years

  • Savita's age = (y – 3) years

Now , A/q

  • 3 years ago Manish's age was 4 times the age of Savita.

\implies{\rm } (x 3) = 4(y 3)

\implies{\rm } 31 y 3 = 4y 12

\implies{\rm } 28 y = 4y 12

\implies{\rm } 28 + 12 = 4y + y

\implies{\rm } 40 = 5y

\implies{\rm } 40/5 = y

\implies{\rm } 8 = y

So , the present age of Savita is 8 years and present age of Manish is - 23 years.

➮ x = 31 – y

➮ x = 31 – 8

➮ x = 23 years
