- So we know that the shortest path between any two points is a straight line
- So here we know that in both the other cases they are curved
- The first one is curved inwards and the second is curved outwards
- But they are longer distances than case one
- When it is a straight line the slope will also be the same and the distance will be reached without any additions
- Wheras when it comes to curves the slope varies and the ball would have to cober a much higher distance than the other
- Thats why we always try to travel in a straight line so that we can reduce the distance as far as possible
