Step-by-step explanation:

Given :-

The age of a man is twice the sum of the ages

of his two children. After 20 years, his age will be

equal to the sum of the ages of his children at that time.

To find :-

Find the present age of the man?

Solution :-

Let the sum of the ages of his two children be X years

The present age of the man = Y years

= twice the sum of the ages of his two children

Y = 2X years-------(1)

After 20 years

The sum of his children age = (X+20+20) years

= (X+40) years

The age of the man = (Y +20) years

Given that

After 20 years, his age will be equal to the sum of the ages of his children at that time

=> X+40 = Y+20

=> X-Y = 20-40

=>X -Y = -20

=> X-2X = -20

=>- X = -20

=> X = 20 years

Now ,

Y = 2(20)=40 years

The sum of the present ages of his children = 20 years

His age = 40 years

Answer:-

The present age of the man is 40 years
