increased by 4cm and the base is decreased by 2cm, the area of triangle remains the

so altitude is ⅔x

increased altitude is ⅔x+4

decrease base x-2

area of triangle is ½(b)(h)

½(x)(⅔x)=½(⅔x+4)(x-2)

⅓x²=⅓x²+4/3x-4

4=⁴/3x

x=3cm

altitude =⅔x=⅔(3)=2

base=x=3
