Given -

  • Area of trapezium = 88 m²

  • Length of 1st side = 10 m

  • Length of height = 8 m

To find -

  • Length of 2nd side.

Formula used -

  • Area of trapezium = a + b/2 × h

Solution -

In the question, we are provided with the area, length of 1st side and the height of a trapeizium, and we need to find the length of 2nd side For that, we will name 2nd side as b, after that, we woll apply the formula of area of trapezium, after that, we will make necessary changes, then we will solve the further question.

According to question -

→ Area of trapezium, A = 88 m

→ Length of 1st side, a = 10 m

→ Length of 2nd side = b

→ Height, h = 8 m

On substituting the values -

→ A = a + b/2 × h

→ 88 m = 10 m + b/2 × 8

→ b = 2 × 88 m/8 m - 10 m

→ b = 2 × 11 m - 10 m

→ b = 22 - 10 m

→ b = 12 m

Verification -

→ A = a + b/2 × h

→ 88 m² = 10 m + 12 m / 2 × 8 m

→ 88 m² = 22 m/2 × 8 m

→ 88 m² = 11 m × 8 m

→ 88 m² = 88 m²

Therefore, the length of 2nd side is 12 m

Given :-

Area of trapezium = 88 m

Height = 8 m

Length of one parallel side = 10 m

To Find :-

Length of 2nd parallel side

Solution :-

We know that

Area of trapezium = 1/2(a + b) h

88 = 1/2 (10 + x) 8

  • Assumed 2nd parallel side as x

88 = 4(10 + x)

88/4 = 10 + x

22 = 10 + x

22 - 10 = x

12 = x
