The revolt was the first massive step towards freedom and impacted everyone.
- The 1857 Rebellion was India's First Independence battle. It typically started at Meerut on 10 May, by sepoy uprising in East India's armed forces.
- It was claimed that racial discrimination remained a reason for rebellion, where Indians were oppressed and prevented from mixing with Europeans. The Whites also began messing with religious and cultural affairs and tortured citizens.
- The sepoys at Muzaffarnagar revolted after word of the sepoys' takeover of Delhi reached them. Punjab, as well as other provinces, joined the movement.
- The uprising in Oudh and contemporary Uttar Pradesh took a severe turn, becoming exceedingly widespread.
