4.The diameter of a cylinder is 28 cm and its height is 40 cm. Find the curved surface area, total surface area and the volume of the cylinder.

Given:

  • Diameter of a cylinder = 28 cm

  • Height of cylinder = 40 cm

To find out:

( i ) Find the Curved surface area of given cylinder?

( ii ) Find the total surface area of given cylinder ?

( iii ) Find the Volume of given cylinder ?

Formula used:

Curved surface area of cylinder = 2πrh

Total surface area of cylinder =2πr ( h + r )

Volume of cylinder = πr²h

Solution:

We have ,

Height, h = 40 cm

Radius = d/2 = 28/2 = 14 cm

Now,

( i ) Curved surface area of cylinder = 2πrh

= 2 × 22/7 × 14 × 40

= 44 × 2 × 40

= 44 × 80

= 3520 cm²

( ii ) Total surface area of cylinder = 2πr ( h + r )

= 2 × 22/7 × 14 ( 40 + 14 )

= 44 × 2 × 54

= 88 × 54

= 4752 cm²

( iii ) Volume of cylinder = πr²h

= 22/7 × 14² × 40

= 22/7 × 196 × 40

= 172480/7

= 24640 cm²
