A N S W E R :

  • Length of rectangular field = 46 m
  • Breadth of rectangular field = 31 m

G I V E N :

  • The length of a rectangle field exceeds its breadth by 15 meters.
  • The perimeter of the field is 154 m.

T O F I N D :

  • Length of rectangular field = ?
  • Breadth of rectangular field = ?

S O L U T I O N :

  • Let Breadth be 'x' and Length be 'x + 15'.

  • Perimeter of rectangle = 154 m

According to Question now :

➻ Perimeter of rectangle = 2(Length + Breadth)

➻ 154 = 2(x + 15 + x)

➻ 154 = 2(2x + 15)

➻ 154 = 4x + 30

➻ 154 - 30 = 4x

➻ 124 = 4x

➻ x = 124 ÷ 4

x = 31 m

Hence,

  • Length of rectangular field = x + 15 = 31 + 15 = 46 m
  • Breadth of rectangular field = x = 31 m

V E R I F I C A T I O N :

≫ 154 = 2(31 + 15 + 31)

≫ 154 = 2(77)

154 = 154

Question :-

The length of a rectangle field exceeds its breadth by

15 meters. If the perimeter of the field is 154 m, find the

length and breadth of the field,

Answer :-

Length = 46 m

Breadth = 31 m

Given :-

Perimeter = 154 m.

Length exceed breadth by 15m

Have to Find :-

Length

Breadth

Calculations :-

Considering breadth as x

Then ,

Length will become as 'x + 15'

Now , just putting up the values :-

↠ Perimeter of rectangle = 2(Length + Breadth)

↠ 154 = 2(x + 15 + x)

↠ 154 = 2(2x + 15)

↠ 154 = 4x + 30

↠ 154 - 30 = 4x

↠ 124 = 4x

↠ x = 124 ÷ 4

\large{\boxed{\bold{x\:=\:31\:m}}}

Therefore ,

  • Length = x + 15

= 31 + 15

= 46 m

  • Breadth = x

= 31 m
