Given :

The MRP of an article is 5,000.

A dealer buys it at a discount of 20%.

He sells it to a customer in  same city at a discount of 5%.

To Find :

Find (i) the total amount paid by the customer

ii) the net  GST paid by the dealer to the government if GST is charged at 12%.

Solution:

MRP of an article = 5000

A dealer buys it at a discount of 20%.

Cost for dealer = 5000-0.2(5000)=4000

He sells it to a customer in  same city at a discount of 5%.

Cost for customer = 5000-0.05(5000)=4750

Rate of GST = 12%

Amount of GST =0.12(4750)=570

Cost for customer including GST = 4750+0.12(4750)=5320

Hence the total amount paid by the customer is Rs.5320 and the net  GST paid by the dealer to the government if GST is charged at 12%. is Rs.570
