Let his initial salary be x.

According to the problem:

x+(15/100)x = 9936

=> x+15x/100=9936

=>(100x+15x)/100=9936

=>115x=9936×100=993600

=>x=993600/115=8640

The person's initial salary was 8640 Rs.

TO CHECK:

15/100×9936=1296

:. 9936-1296=8640 Rs.

Given :

Salary increased by 15%.

To find :

If salary is 9,936 What is his initial salary ?

Solution :

Let the initial Salary be x.

Now, increase amount of salary

= 15 % of initial Salary, we can say it 15% of Rs. x

 \frac{15}{100}  \times x

For finding initial Salary,

First ,

Present salary = initial salary + increased salary .

= 9,936 = Rs x + 15x\100

= Rs. 100 x + Rs. 15x ÷ 100

 =  >  \frac{115}{100}

______

Secondly , Now For finding the initial Salary

Present salary = Rs.9936

 =  >  \frac{15x}{100}  = 9936

 =  > x =  \frac{9936 \times 100}{115}

 =  > x = 432 \times 20

 =  > rs.8640

Hence, the initial salary was = Rs. 8640 .
