Let his initial salary be x.
According to the problem:
x+(15/100)x = 9936
=> x+15x/100=9936
=>(100x+15x)/100=9936
=>115x=9936×100=993600
=>x=993600/115=8640
The person's initial salary was 8640 Rs.
TO CHECK:
15/100×9936=1296
:. 9936-1296=8640 Rs.
