=> x² + 7x - 5x - 35 =0

=> x(x+7) - 5(x+7) =0

=> x = 5 or x= - 7

Since, length can never be negative.

Therefore, x= 5

Length of side of first square = 5 cm

And length of side of second square = 7 cm .
