Solution :

4^x - 4^x-1 = 24

Multiply each term by 4,

we get

=> 4*4^x - 4^x = 96

Let 4^x = a ----( 1 )

=> 4a - a = 96

=> 3a = 96

=> a = 96/3

=> a = 32

4^x = 32[ from ( 1 ) ]

=> 2^2x = 2^5

=> 2x = 5

=> x = 5/2
