Answer :-

  • The electricity bill for the month of March is Rs. 641.70

Explanation :

To Find :-

  • The electricity bill

Solution:

Given that,

  • 4 tube lights of 40 W each , 2 fans of 60 W each, a television of 100 W and an air conditioner of 1 kW are used for 6 hours daily. [ 1kW = 1000 W ]
  • Given rate = Rs. 2.50
  • Month = March

Therefore,

Total power of tube lights:

=> ( 4 × 40 ) W

=> 160 W

Total power of fan:

=> ( 2 × 60 ) W

=> 120 W

Hence, total power of all appliances :-

=> 160 W + 120 W + 100 W + 1000 W

=> ( 160 + 120 + 100 + 1000 ) W

=> ( 380 + 1000 ) W

=> 1380 W

Now,

Energy consumed in one day:

=> 1380 W × 6 h

=> ( 1380 × 6 ) Wh

=> 8280 Wh

Energy consumed in the month of March: [ Number of days on March = 31 days ]

=> ( 8280 × 31 ) Wh

=> 256680 Wh

Converting 256680 Wh to kWh,

=> ( 256680 ÷ 1000 ) kWh

=> 256.68 kWh

According the question,

The cost of 1 unit of electrical energy = Rs. 2.50

Therefore, total cost of 256.68 units:

=> Rs. ( 256.68 × 2.50 )

=> Rs. 641.70

Hence,

The electrical bill for the month of March is Rs. 641.70

1 kW are used for 6 hours daily. [1kW = 1000 W] . Given rate = Rs. 2.50

. Month March

Therefore,

Total power of tube lights:

=> (4 × 40) W.

=> 160 W.

4.0

Total power of fan:

=> (2 × 60) W.

=> 120 W.

Hence, total power of all appliances -

=> 160 W + 120 W + 100 W + 1000 W => (160 + 120 + 100 + 1000 ) W

=> (380 + 1000) W.

=> 1380 W.

Now,

Energy consumed in one day:

=> 1380 W x 6 h => (1380 × 6) Wh

=> 8280 Wh

Energy consumed in the month of March: [Number of days on March = 31 days ]

=> (8280 × 31) Wh => 256680 Whi

Converting 256680 Wh to kWh, => (256680 +1000) kWh

=> 256.68 kWh

According the question,

The cost of 1 unit of electrical energy = Rs. 2.50

Therefore, total cost of 256.68 units: => Rs. (256.68 × 2.50)

=> Rs. 641.70

Hence,

The electrical bill for the month of March is Rs. 641.70
