Answer:

 \frac{4}{9}  =  \frac{x - 1}{2x - 1}  \\  \\  = cross \: multiplication \\  \\  = 4(2x - 1) = 9(x - 1) \\  \\  = 8x - 4 = 9x - 9 \\  \\  = 9x - 8x = 9 - 4 \\  \\  = x = 5

GIVEN :

\sf \:  \dfrac{4}{9} \:=\: \dfrac{x-1}{2x-1}

To find : x

Solution :

1) Take 9 from LHS to RHS

\sf  \implies \: 4\:=\: \dfrac{(x-1)}{(2x-1)} \times 9

2) Now from RHS take (2x-1) to LHS

\sf \implies  \: 4 \times (2x-1)  \: = \:  9 \times (x-1 )\\  \\ \sf \implies 8x - 4 \:  =  \: 9x \:  -  \: 9

3) Now take variable terms on one side and constant terms on one side.

  • Take +8x from LHS to RHS
  • Take (-9) from RHS to LHS

\sf \implies  \: 9 \:  -  \: 4  \: =  \: 9x \:  -  \: 8x \\  \\ \sf \implies  \: 5 = x \\ \sf \implies   \bold{x  = 5}

ANSWER :

x = 5
