4. Using divisibility tests, determine which of the following numbers are divisible by
4, 6, 8, 9 or 11:
(i) 197244
(ii) 613440
(iii) 4100448​

613440 is divisie by 4 ,6 ,8 ,9

4100448 is divisible by 4 ,6 ,8 ,11

Answer :

i.197244 is divisible by 4 , 6 and 9 .

ii. 613440 is divisible by 4 , 6 , 8 and 9 .

iii. 4100449 is divisible by 4 , 6 , 8 and 11 .

Here , divisibility of 4 is

if the last two digit no. of the no. is divisible by 4 then the no. is divisible by 4 .

so , in (i) 44 is the last two digit no. and it is divisible by 4 and thus 197244 is divisible by 4 . It is similar also for ii and iii .

For 6 :

If the given no. is divisible by 2 and 3 then it is divisible by 6.

For 8 :

If the last three digits of the given no. is divisible by 8 then the no. is also divisible by 8 .

For 9 :

If the sum of all the digits of the given no. is divisible by 9 then the no. is divisible by 9.

For 11 :

If the sum of odd place digit and sum of even place digit of the no. when subtracted and the result is equal to 0 or it is divisible by 11 then the no. is divisible by 11 .

eg : in iii .

4 1 0 0 4 4 8

sum of odd place digit : 4+0+4+8 = 16

sum of even place digits :

1+0+4= 5 and

difference of the two no. = 16-5=11

which is divisible by 11 .
