\bf{More\: Informations:-}

Resource:- Resources are the substances which fulfills the daily need of an individual.

Resources are classified into the following groups:-

  • On the basis of origin
  • On the basis of exhaustibility
  • On the basis of Ownership
  • On the basis of status of development.

On the basis of origin:-

  • Abiotic Resources:- The things which do-not have life in them are known as abiotic resources. Eg:- Soil, Water, etc.

  • Biotic Resources:- The resources which are composed of living components are known as biotic resources. Eg:- Human beings, Flaura and fauna.

On the basis of Exhaustibility:-

  • Renewable Resources:- Those resources which can be renewed or replenished by physical, chemical or mechanical processes are known as renewable resources. Eg:- solar and wind energy, water.

  • Non-Renewable resources:- Those resources which cannot be renewed or replenished by any of the processes are known as non-renewable resources. These resources are also known as exhaustable resources. These resources once used, take millions of years to rebuild, hence they are considered to be exhausted. Eg:- Fossil fuels.

On the basis of Ownership:-

  • Individual resources:- Those resources which belongs privately to an individual is known as individual resources. Eg. Garden of a house.

  • Community-owned resources:- Those resources which are owned and used by community are known as community-owned resources. Eg:- Public Parks.

  • National Resources:- Initially all the resources belong to nation. All the minerals, water resources within the political boundaries and oceanic area of 12 nautical miles are considered to be terristrial water resources.

  • International Resources:- All the resources beyond 200 nautical miles from the coast in the ocean is considered to be International resources.

On the basis of Status of development:-

  • Potential resources:- Those resources which are known to be present in a region, but have not been utilised yet. Eg:- Wind and solar energy.

  • Developed Resources:- Those resources which are known to exist and have been developed are known as developed resources. Eg:- hydal energy.

  • Stock Resources:- These resources are known to exist but we don't have proper technology to develop those resources. Eg:- We know that the \sf{H_2} and \sf{O_2} from water can be used as a rich source of energy.

  • Reserves:- These are the subset of the stock resources. These resources can be used by using its technical know-how but have not been used.
