Chemical compound is a chemical substance made up of atoms of more than one element by chemical bonding. Two atoms of the same element bound in a molecule do not form a chemical compound because it requires two different elements.

There are four types of compounds, depending on how the constituent atoms are put together:

The molecule held together by covalent bonds

Ionic compounds are held together by ionic bonds.

Unmetallic compound are held together by metal bonds

Certain complexes held together by covalent bonds

A chemical formula specifies the number of atoms of each element in a compound molecule, it USES standard abbreviations and numerical subscript of chemical elements. For example, the formula of a water molecule is h2o which binds two hydrogen atoms with one oxygen molecule. Many chemical compounds have a unique kyc number identifier allocated by chemical abstract service. More than 350,000 chemical compounds (including those containing chemicals) have been registered for production and use.

A compound can be converted into a different chemical structure by interaction of another chemical compound by chemical reaction. In this process, relations between atoms break into compounds of interaction, and new bonds are formed.
