Manuscripts are found in hundreds of different languages and scripts.They are primary sources, often unique ones, upon which the writing of history may be based. They provide evidence of human activity, and as such, are generated naturally during the course of an individual's or an organization's life.

1. Inscriptions are the writings on stone, metal or some materials as an important historical source. These are valuable historical evidence of the existence and activities of early kings and empires. They also provide detailed religious practises.

3. a)Literary sources are more useful than archaeological sources because they provide detailed information on the objects and events of the past. b) People used it to write holy texts, chronicles of rulers, letters and teachings of saints, petitions and judicial records, and for registers of accounts and taxes.
