Skeletal chemical equations are unbalanced . We need to balance chemical equations because of law of conservation of mass . It states "during a chemical reaction matter is neither created nor destroyed. " Therefore chemical equations must be balanced in each and every chemical reaction . Only a balanced equation tell us the relative quantities of different reactants and products involved in the reaction.
