The method of hand picking is used to separate those mixtures where one of the component is in small quantity. The method of hand picking is used to separate undesirable substances such as small pieces of stones from wheat, rice and pulses.
It is the simplest method of separation of substances. This method is used only when unwanted material is in small quantity. Moreover, shape, size, or colour of the unwanted material is different from that of the useful materials.
