The relation to be solved is

(13-x)/(9-x) = (8-x)/(6-x), or

(13-x)*(6-x) = (8-x)*(9-x), or

78–19x+x^2 = 72-17x+x^2, or

78–72 = 6 = 19x-17x = 2x, or

x = 3.

Check : 10/6 is same as 5/3. Correct

So subtract 3 from each of the 4 numbers so that they are in proportion.
