Sir syed Ahmed khan initiated efforts towards education of Muslim women. he opposed the purdah system prevelant among the Muslim women. he also opposed polygamy and the Muslim system of easy divorce.in the north Indian Muslim families,women learnt to read the Koran in Arabic. they were given education at home.
