It was challenging for Muhammad Bin Tughlaq to dominate the Deccan from Delhi. He consequently made the decision to move his capital from Delhi to Daulatabad. It lay close to Pune. But he chose to move the whole population of Delhi to Daulatabad rather than moving the formal court. The people that fought back against the migration had no choice but to. Many elderly and ill travellers perished en route to Daulatabad. When the Sultan arrived in Daulatabad, he realised his error and once more ordered his people to return to Delhi. The outcome was terrible.
2nd reason for failure of Muhammad Bin Tughluq's expeditions:

The copper coins were issued by the new sultan as a substitute for the Silver Tanka. He didn't understand, however, that the issuing authority should only be under the king.
