Muhammad Iqbal (1877 – 1938) - the poet, philosopher, scholar was the one who remarked that ‘Nehru is a patriot, while Jinnah is a politician’. Also known as Allama Iqbal, his poetry is very popular even to this day among Indians and Pakistanis. He is considered a central figure in Urdu literature.

Jawaharlal Nehru (1889 – 1964) was the first Indian Prime Minister and played a major role in Indian politics, before and after independence.

Muhammad Ali Jinnah was the founder of Pakistan and lead the All-India Muslim League until Pakistan’s independence.
