4.Courts are imperatively bound by decisions of higher courts in the hierarchy. At the apex stands the Supreme Court. Under Article 141 of the Constitution of India the law declared by the Supreme Court is binding on all courts in India. It is empowered also to give advisory opinion under Article 143.
