Plants need nitrogen because nitrogen is involved in a vareity of plant processes including photosynthesis. Nitrogen also plays a role in growth of tissue and cel found within the plants as well as the formation of chlorophyll. Chlorophyll helps plant receive energy from light which is preety a big deal.
