Answer:
This project attempts to examine whether mediation might usefully intervene in child care
proceedings that arise in Dolphin House. Dolphin House accommodates the busiest child
protection courts in this jurisdiction, but mediation is still not actively promoted in these
cases. The project also attempts to evaluate the category of cases that best lend themselves to
mediation, the group of stakeholders that could most usefully be engaged, the significant
problems of empowerment that present in these complex cases and the skills required of
mediators. As part of the research nine different stakeholders were interviewed- two social
workers, two guardians ad litem, two mediators, two District Court judges and one lawyer.
